Society for the History of Technology (USA)

The SHOT Program Committee is calling for session and paper proposals for the 1983 Annual Meeting, which will be held in Washington, D.C., October 20-23, 1983. The Committee seeks a diverse program, one that addresses both western and non-western technology, and both early and more modern topics.

Congrès 1983 de la FEANI La technique : facteur de l’évolution culturelle

La FEANI (Fédération européenne des associations nationales d’ingénieurs) tiendra un Congrès à Paris du 13 au 16 septembre 1983 sur le double thème : La technique: facteur de l’évolution culturelle et Le rôle social de l’ngénieur.

Museum voor Industriële Archeologie en Textiel, te Gent (België)

Het initiatief om een Museum voor Industriële Archeologie en Textiel op te richten werd in 1976 genomen door het Gentse Stadsbestuur. Het ligt in de bedoeling in het museum het ontstaan en de evolutie van de industriële maatschappij op een edukatieve manier te illustreren.

Gent was in de 19de eeuw immers de eerste geïndustrialiseerde stad op het Europees vasteland. Op het ogenblik bevindt het MIAT zich nog in een beginfase. Het bestaat nog niet als een voor een publiek toegankelijk gebouw (MIAT Museumkrant nr. 1, februari 1983).
